Yes. But SAO will only nominate you for one programme. Therefore, you need to apply another programme by yourself and SAO will not be liable to those self-applied programmes.

Yes. However, according to the UMacau regulation, sponsorship only covers up to Mop 15,000 or 70% of the student’s total expense which includes prorgramme feeaccommodation fee and air tickets.

What should I do if I want to transfer the credit I got from the host university to UMacau? 2017-09-05T11:58:29+00:00

Please prepare detailed course information (e.g. course credit hours, course description, etc) that you are going to take in the summer programme and contact related faculty admin staff for the possibility of credit transfer and related procedures.

No, students cannot change the choices after the application deadline.

Not every program sends coordinator from the host university to promote their summer program. If there is any briefing session from the host university in UMacau, SAO will keep posted in Summer Programme Website.

What does it mean: “waived for UMacau nominated students”? 2017-09-05T11:56:26+00:00

It means that all the students (within the quota limit of that programme) who are selected by our university no matter from U-team or the online application, will enjoy the programme fee waiver.

Some of the quotas of summer programmes are reserved for U-team members & SAO Programme members. Selection for other students will be based on the below criteria,

No, students are responsible for your own visa application and SAO does not guarantee the VISA approval for each student.

Yes, a “Letter of Selection” issued by Student Affairs Office will be given to you. Please check what other documents you need from the related embassy, for example, some VISA application might need a testimonial issued by Registry/Graduate School to prove that you are a student of University of Macau, which takes two working days and costs MOP55.

No, only one “Letter of Selection” will be issued to selected students.

Each student will be granted a specific number of SP only after s/he achieves the minimum required participation hours of the designated activities. Activities with Smart Point will be announced at SP website:

Accumulated Smart Points could be checked at Student Information Web Service: It takes 15 working days to grant the smart point into your student account after an activity.

Your accumulated smart points will be counted as at 8 Feburary, 2018 which is also the application deadline. In other words, we will count all the smart points that you have acquired on or before 8 Feb, regardless if they have already updated in your ISW or not.

Sponsorship only covers 70% of the student’s total expense which includes prorgramme fee, accommodation fee and air tickets. Please refer to the examples below,

The chance of getting sponsorship depends on the number of smart points from all participants; therefore, we could not guarantee that how many smart points you need for sponsorship. However, you may refer to the 2017 statistics below or on our e-bulletin for your reference. In 2017, a minimum of 41 Smart Points was required to get the sponsorship for G1 and G2 programme and a minimum of 40.5 Smart Points was required for G3 programmes.

The extra MOP 500 is granted to students who have enough smart points to get the sponsorship and at the same time, their accumulated GPA is >=3.0.

When will the subsidy be reimbursed? 2017-09-05T11:26:55+00:00

Student Affairs Office will start doing the reimbursement procedures as long as we receive the program reports and transcript from the students. Usually the transcripts from host university take some time to be delivered to Macao, the amount will be reimbursed latest by November after we review all the documents.

Yes, you can apply for the summer program even your passport is expired. Moreover, please make sure that you passport is already renewed before you apply for the VISA or going abroad.

  • Before application deadline: please submit a new application and the latest one will be accepted.
  • After application: Please send an e-mail to for updating the mistake in your application. Please state your name and your student number in the e-mail content.
If I am going to graduate in May 2018, can I apply summer programme and get sponsorship from the university? 2017-12-15T15:59:21+00:00

Yes, you can still apply and get sponsorship from the university (if granted). However, please make sure you would not withdraw from the programme after acceptance due to a new job offer. Otherwise, you will be subjected to an administrative fee of MOP1000, return the full sponsorship (if granted) and disciplinary action. For non-local students, it may be hard for you to apply for the visa to some of the countries as your stay permit in Macau will be expired in May or June.

If I am doing my semester exchange and currently not in Macau, can I apply for the summer programme? 2017-09-05T11:15:26+00:00

Yes, you can apply for summer program. Moreover you will need to be responsible of your own application after confirmation of selection by Student Affairs Office.

Yes, you can join any summer programme as long as you meet the criteria of the admission.
